Which Collection Method Is Best For You?

There are SO many options on the market today for collecting period blood, that it can be easy to become overwhelmed with choices. So let's break it down into some easy questions to ask yourself!

  1. Would you prefer an internal or external collection method?

  2. How important is it to you to be eco-friendly?

  3. What is your monthly budget for period products?

Internal collection methods include cups, tampons, and discs, while external collection methods include period panties, pads, and panty liners.

In my opinion, the most eco-friendly collection method is the cup. With proper care, it can last up to 10 years, and the only waste it produces is the packaging it comes in, and the cup itself when it is no longer usable. Compared to tampons and disposable pads, which will stack up in the landfill (or even worse, in the sewage system!), cups offer a much more ecological solution to period care.

Reusable products also offer a great incentive on the economic front. While the initial cost is higher than that of its disposable counterparts, money is then saved from cycle to cycle and the cost of the reusable products are usually paid off within the first few periods!

So what is your favorite method of collection? For me personally, I will happily stick with my cup, but I love that there is so many more options for people with periods. The most important thing is an individuals comfort and freedom of choice!
